It was another successful season for Knockin & Kinnerley with the club entering two teams in to the Shrewsbury Indoor Cricket League for the first time...
The Indoor A team, led by 1XI captain Daniel Parry, were newly promoted into Division Two for the 2025-26 campaign and ended up in 3rd place just 4 points off top after 7 wins out of their 10 games. It was a very good showing for the A team and they will be looking to push for a much coveted promotion spot to Division One next season, as the winners of the Division One title in the Shrewsbury Indoor Cricket League go into a play-off with the winners of the Wrekin Indoor Cricket League to represent the county of Shropshire at the ECB Indoor Cricket Nationals that play at the various county cricket grounds across the nation before the big finals day at Lords.
For the A team, the big achievers with the bat were Daniel Parry, who finished with 179 runs at an average of 35.8 - 2nd in the division for overall total runs and Mat Batkin who was the second highest run scorer in the team with 164 runs at an average of 32.8 - 4th overall in the division.
With the ball for the A team, Dan Morris lead the way with 6 wickets - joint 5th in the divisions rankings, with young prodigy Fin Bradbury and JP Erasmus next in line with 4 wickets each.
As mentioned earlier in the piece, the Indoor B team were entered into the competition for the first time in the Shrewsbury Indoor Cricket League. Led into the competition by 2XI vice-captain James Hearle, the B team was set up as a way to give our many juniors more game time and interaction with some of our senior players. Whilst also giving those juniors and senior players some exposure to competitive indoor cricket.
The B team fought hard throughout the season, much of it led by Junior coach Damian Winstone in the absence of captain Hearle, and came away with 3 great wins against 3 different sides. During the season they were able to regularly rotate a squad of 15 players throughout the games, which goes to show the great appetite for cricket at the club and the clubs dedication to getting everyone a game.
For the B's Shaun Davis was leading run scorer with 74 runs at an average of 37 - 14th in the div for total runs. Damian Winstone, Robert Ford and Elis Morrow weren’t far behind with 70, 63 and 57 runs respectively. With the ball young Harry Greenaway was the standout with 7 wickets - 7th overall in the division. Julian Gallimore was next inline with 4 wickets, whilst Shaun Davis, Andreas Davis, Elis Morrow, Dylan Winstone and Jerome Parkins all finished with a couple of wickets a piece.
A greatly successful season for both sides and one they will look to build on next season!
