Knockin & Kinnerley CC February 2024 Newsletter

Hello everyone

Your club committee hope that you are looking forward to the 2024 cricket season, which starts on the last weekend in April.

With the season fast approaching, we wanted to bring you up to date with our plans and key dates for your diaries and please don't forget watch out for news, events and fixture updates on the website and make sure you’ve downloaded the Pitchero app.

Our main objectives remain: That cricket should be fun for all, inclusive and that existing and new members feel welcomed into the KKCC family.

Team Matters:
For the 2024 season we’ll be entering four weekend adult teams in the Shropshire Cricket League and two midweek teams in the Shrewsbury and District Evening League. Our Ladies and Girls team will be taking part in softball and hardball competitions and our junior teams will be competing in county competitions.

Announcement on Saturday fixtures here and full fixture list can be found on the website by clicking on here.

We're always looking out for new recruits! So if you know any potential players, please contact Gary Darlington, Club Captain on clubcaptain@kkcc.co.uk. We are particularly keen to hear from any ladies interested in joining the club.

All the way from SA - The Club looks forward to welcoming Derek Bester from South Africa as our overseas player. Please make him welcome and introduce yourselves to him.

Juniors, Preseason and Training:
Junior coaching will return on Monday evenings and further details will follow towards the start of the season. Please see the exciting news regarding the bowling machine below.
Preseason nets have been arranged at Oswestry School with the next session on 17th March and nets will run up to the start of the season. The cost will be £3 per session - more details here.

Gary Darlington is also planning a preseason players meeting on Friday 19th April. This will be a chance to get together, catch up and look ahead to the season - come along for a great social evening at the club.

Once the season is underway, practice nets for all will take place every Friday throughout the season between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. The bar and newly installed pool table will be operational, so come along have a go in the nets and then catch up with friends afterwards.

New bowling machine:
With much thanks to Oswestry Sports Forum, who kindly awarded us with funding towards it, we have just taken delivery of our new Bola junior bowling machine!

It might be 'Junior' by name but it's sure to deliver balls quick enough to test all KKCC abilities and age levels!! A fantastic addition to our training kit and will be in regular use on Junior and 'all club' training sessions.
