Knockin and Kinnerley Cricket Clubs Shrewsbury and District Evening Cricket League T20 1XI were crowned Presidents Cup Champions on Sunday after beating Wellington in the final!

Earlier in the day Knockin saw off local rivals Oswestry C.C. based Rough and Tumblers in the first of the semi finals thanks to a swift 48 with the bat from Dian Liebenberg and a 3fer from Mat Batkin.

That win tee’d up a final with Wellington C.C. and it was that man again Batkin with a blistering 42 off 24 balls who with Matt Tunnadine (34 off 22) got KKCC to a total of 158.
Then an all round bowling performance from Dan Morris’ charges saw 2fers all round for Liebenberg, Joseph, Parry and Erasmus as Knockin cruised to a 50 run victory and another piece of silverware to be added to an ever expanding trophy cabinet back at the Nursery Ground!

In the competition itself, Dian Liebenberg ended as the second highest run scorer with 138 runs at an average of 34.5. With the ball Mat Batkin, JP Erasmus and Justin Joseph ended the comp joint 2nd with 5 wickets apiece as Dian rolled in 7th with 4.In the field, Dian led the way claiming 4 fielding victims with Fin Bradbury in 4th with 3 in the competition.

This achievement cannot be underestimated as only a handful of sides not named 'Grasshoppers' (a collection of minor counties players mixed with some of the best players in the SCCL) have won the title in the last 20 years.
