The tickets are for Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash with Frankfurt, scheduled to take place on Saturday 24 October. The VIP package includes food and drink and is not something the public can buy, making it a truly unique experience.

It is one of many exciting prizes on offer in the club’s auction, which is being run alongside the club’s annual Fun Day, called Knockin Around. That takes place at the club on Sunday (30 August) from 10am right through until 9pm, with fun for all the family on offer. Proceeds from the auction and the events on the day will be split between the club and The Christie Charity.

The Dortmund tickets were donated in the memory of Charles Roberts, a late, great, passionate club supporter and longstanding President.

The kind donor said: “The Borussia Dortmund tickets have been personally provided by the club and are strictly invite only, so this is a genuinely special experience.

“It includes fantastic seats, complimentary food and drink, live music and access to the guest area, where you can mingle with some of the stars.

“It’s a real money can’t buy experience.”

If you don’t fancy going as far as Germany to see top footballers in action, then the auction also includes the chance to bid for two tickets for Manchester City’s opening home fixture in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

Other prizes include the chance to play golf fourballs at either Oswestry or Llanymynech Golf Course, a Magnum of Tanners Champagne, afternoon tea for two with English sparkling wine, two one-and-a-half-hour driving lessons in Shrewsbury, and three hours of gardening.

Club spokesman Patrick Evans said: “This auction is a chance to bid for some incredible lots and support our thriving community cricket club as well as an extremely well deserving charity at the same time.

“We’re grateful to all the people and local businesses who have submitted an item for our auction, and we’re excited to see what interest they get.

“When we heard about the tickets for Borussia Dortmund, the club was blown away. This really is a wonderful opportunity for any football fan, and I’d hope we will see some good offers to secure it – I’m almost tempted to bid myself!”

The auction is open for offers until 9pm on Sunday (30 August), when Knockin Around finishes.

Anyone dropping in to Knockin Around will be able to bid on the day, but there is also the chance to submit bids online in advance. That can be done right now by going to the clubs Zeffy auction site here.
